It is Friday night at Harvester Christian Church and I am sitting here at Discipleship. The theme for this year is “the Narrow Door.” The main verse for the weekend is:
“Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to” Luke 13:24.
We are looking at four different aspects of this verse and tonight we start with looking at, Called to hear God’s calling on our life to make disciples. Often this is difficult to understand. What if I can’t hear him calling? What if I don’t understand his calling? How can I do what he called me to do?
Acts 15:15-25 is the premise of the message.
“Then it seemed good to (M)the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them to send to (N)Antioch with Paul and Barnabas–Judas called Barsabbas, and (O)Silas, leading men among (P)the brethren,” verse 22
“it seemed good” Why was there not a clear picture of what was to be done? God is capable of speaking in an audible way (ex. the burning bush) yet, he simply gives them the idea that it should be done.
However, we often make it mystical and unknown, we run and hide from what we feel God is pushing us too as if we want him to thrust us into his will.
How do you feel about all this? Do you think that you should do something to follow the prompting of God? Instead of waiting for the obvious and overstated lets just go and follow the thrusting of God into the life that he desires for us.
